Apple iPhone is the Top Choice for Smartphone Buyers, Reveals Survey
June 25, 2007techshout.com
Whenever we write any article on the forthcoming Apple iPhone an adjective that we always attach before the device’s name is ‘highly-anticipated’ or perhaps ‘much awaited’ and well now it has been proved that the iPhone is certainly one device that people are dying to put their hands on.
A survey conducted on people who are seeking to purchase an advanced mobile phone within the coming three months, has revealed that Apple’s iPhone is the top choice, which people are looking forward to buy. The research firm asked 3,489 U.S. consumers if they planned to buy an advanced mobile phone, and if yes, then what brand they would choose.
ChangeWave Research, the based in Rockville, Md-based company which conducted the survey, discovered that 26 percent of prospective buyers would prefer going in for the iPhone. The other competitor that stood neck-by-neck with the iPhone is RIM’s BlackBerry. Both the devices shared the numero uno spot.
The study, which was conducted in April, further revealed that 10 percent of those planning to buy an advanced mobile phone said they would choose a Palm device, putting the company in third place. Samsung Electronics Co. was fourth with 7 percent, followed by Motorola Inc. with 5 percent and Nokia with 3 percent.
The wide multi-touch screen surely stands to be one of the biggest USPs of the iPhone.
“It appears that the Apple iPhone will have a huge impact on the smart-phone market,” ChangeWave said in the report. The device “poses an enormous challenge to the entire industry.”
According to ChangeWave, 7.8 percent of the consumers surveyed planned to buy an advanced phone within the next 90 days.
Now this surely seems to be a survey that will give Apple a boost, but hey do we hear rivals banging their desks in rage. Well, it’s just a matter of four days now, as the Apple iPhone hits shelves on 29th June. Let’s wait and watch who emerges as the final winner.
