iPhone Shoppers Waiting for 3G
May 21, 2008Gizmodo.co.uk
By Martin Lynch
A US survey of potential iPhone shoppers has revealed that 1 in 4 have resisted temptation and are holding out for the 3G model, which is expected to launch in the coming weeks.
Still, if just 1 in 4 have held off, does that mean the other 75% have been buying them regardless? The survey, by ChangeWave Research, found that wannabe iPhone owners were holding off on the big spend through a combination of wanting the new model (14%) and/or waiting for 3G (11%).
The survey of nearly 3,600 US shoppers also revealed that the biggest complaint by current iPhone owners was the crappy speed of AT&T's EDGE network followed by having to use AT&T itself.
Paul Carton, the research director at ChangeWave Research, commented:
"There isn't any doubt among iPhone owners about their biggest dislike. It's the speed of AT&T's EDGE network. Assuming Apple's next iPhone is 3G-compatible, it's good news for Apple. That is the key issue faced by Apple, according to our survey."
Other reasons for holding out included the high price, with some shoppers complaining about the $399 and $499 price tags for the 8GB and 16GB models.
Hell, they should come to the UK or Europe to experience some real price gouging. Are you waiting for 3G?
